Gaumukh or Gomukh (Cow’s mouth) from where the Ganga originates too has a pilgrimage value and a legend attached to it. It is said that King Bhagirath got the Ganga down here from the heavens so that salvation could be bought for his sons. Pangarchulla (or Pangarchuli) is a trekking peak on the top of the north face - Kuari Pass which is a short trek and starts from Joshimath and complete in 6 days at Joshimath. The peak is of 5000 m and offers great views of Nanda Devi (India's highest mountain) and many others. This is a very spectacular part of the Indian Himalayan and one that we never grow tired of looking at. After this trek, on the way back we get on the rafts for grade IV river expedition which finishes in Rudraprayag. This is a classic river run negotiating over 85 grade III and IV rapids and covering the full distance between Chamoli to Rudraprayag rafting downstream at the Upper Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand. For those of you who have little time but want to gain the maximum in a short period, we offer special combo trips which are a mix of both rafting and trekking giving you the best of all that the Himalayas have to offer. Chandrashila top and Dev Prayag down on the river Ganga is the shortest combo trip we can offer. It can be completed in 6 days and is nice and easy giving you a fare share of both the experiences in a week’s time. In the first three days of trekking we will cover Sari, Deorital, Chopta and Chandrashila and then get back to Chopta. We will start our rafting expedition by undertaking the downstream from Chopta to Devprayag, where there is a beautiful confluence of the Alaknanada and the Bhagirathi river. Corbett National Park at the foothills of the Himalayas is famous especially for its tigers. Named after the famous conservationist- Jim Corbett, the park offers some great Jeep safari opportunities along with the benefit of some spectacular wildlife in your wake. One of the Jungle safari opportunities is at the Bijrani Range where you can go for a half day safari either in the morning or afternoon or both in morning and afternoon.
