Overview

Grade: IV, IV + (difficult, powerful waves. Very precise maneuvering required).

This is a mix of colors and elements. Opened only recently for rafting and kayaking, this expedition will take you through lush rainforests that surround some of the finest white water in the world. That and plus the fact that we take you to the lesser known North east part of the country. A region very few travel groups will bother with. The thrill of the exuberant rapids on the river is only surpassed by the verdant beauty that surrounds it.

Drive 4 hours to Marjangle where a camp will be set up for you. You can relax, take a walk down the beach, and take in the sights of some rare bird species while we ready the raft and other equipments for the coming days. Dinner usually is filled with the excitement of the coming days on the river.

Day 05 :

The beginning of the expedition is quite calm and we cross a few easy rapids, drift through the thick forests to encounter some exciting grade IV rapids which require much vigor. Late afternoon we set up a camp at a sandy beach after a good exciting day on the river.

Day 06 :

Today we paddle through a gorge which has some spectacular views. Add to this some fun grade III rapids and you have a pretty bouncy ride as few more streams and rivers come in adding more volume. As we leave the first gorge, we float through the Seppa town to pitch camp on a sandy river beach. Streams falling into the Kameng surround us and we go to bed dreaming of the river and what the next day holds for us.

Day 07 :

The day starts with an easy float section as we go away from the villages into the remote gorge of the Kameng, where there are good grade III and IV rapids before we reach the camp at the rivers confluence.

Day 08 :

Layover day: One can choose to wake up late, laze around the camp or take a nature walk & explore the remote gorge around, sunbathe, bird watch, try a hand at fishing or just lay on the beach & read a book.

Day 09 :

The Kemang River now increases in volume as the Bichom River joins it and adds punch to its many grade IV rapids. We may need to scout the river before we actually negotiate it adding to the whole excitement of being in the middle of a rushing river. Our camp will be situated at the remotest section of the Kemang River where we can give rest to our aching muscles.

Day 10 :

Our days on the river are coming to an end as we scout this grade IV section with long rapids. The high point of the day is dam site with some out of the world ‘white water’. We camp by a rapid tonight to celebrate the last evening around the camp fire on the trip.

Day 11 :

The last day on the river has a lot of grade III and IV rapids and a stunning gorge .Raft to Bhalukpong – the takeout point where the river slows down as it enters the plains. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 12 :
