Discover Remote Locales of the Northeast

Our tour of Arunachal Pradesh in north-east India is a signature 12-day adventure. The trip begins with an eight- hour ferry ride on the Brahmaputra river, with the chance to spot a variety of local flora and fauna, including the elusive Gangetic dolphin and several species of spectacular resident and migratory birds. The less-frequented north-eastern states of India are home of several indigenous tribes who live in remote villages isolated from modern amenities. Our fixed adventure tour of Arunachal Pradesh takes you on a hike to the tribal village of Jedu for an insight into the lives of locals. The main highlight of the Arunachal tour is the rafting expedition on the Brahmaputra, one of the largest rivers in the world that passes through China as well as north east India. Encounter some of the most thrilling Grade IV and V rapids like the Ninguing, Pulsating Pulse Broken Oar, Hhair Hari and Moying Madness. The rafting expedition on this tour takes you through one of the remotest jungle canyons in the world. The surrounding forests untouched by civilization lead to the spectacular Rikor and Zebra Rock rapids. On this tour, we also encounter a spectacular Grade VI rapid called the Tooth fairy. However, we don’t negotiate this rapid, but instead walk around it to the Marmong gorge.

Get a 360- degree experience of the Himalayas

Spend a night under the stars, camping in a high Himalayan meadow- Dayara. Trek through dense oak, deodar and rhododendron forests; spot the highest peaks in the region and experience the thrill of walking on the ridge of the mountain at an altitude of 3460 metres, with thousands of metres of cliff below you. The best adventures of north India have to include a tour of the majestic Himalayas. The massive range with its myriads peaks and crevices has some of the best high- altitude trekking trails in India. Red Chilli Adventure has several intensive trekking tours of the Himalayas spanning from four to nine days that cover different parts of the range. Trek to the top of Surya (3900m) and Uchlaru (4000m) for a panoramic view of all the major peaks in the range including Gangotri I, II, III, Bandarpoonch, Draupadi Ka Danda and Srikanth. Nanda Devi, the highest peak of the Indian Himalayas at a massive 7850m can be seen on a trek to Pangarchulla top. High- altitude treks test your endurance levels to the hilt. Himalayan trekking tours can be particularly challenging because of the fluctuating levels of oxygen as you go up the range.

Get a taste of real adventure

The best adventures in India are the ones that give you the thrill of the outdoors and a first- hand experience of holding your own against the elements. Our fixed adventure tours scheduled at different times throughout the year provide a fascinating experience of the changing face of nature with the passing of seasons. A trek to the Chandrashila peak in Uttarakhand in the summer months of March to July provide a different experience of the mountains compared to a trip in December in the middle of winter. A trip to the Himalayas has an uncanny way of reeling in even the most cynical traveller. The imposing mountains with their deep spiritual history have a kinetic pull that makes you want to return after each visit. The average adventure tour calendar in India is even more exciting with the addition of adventure sports like rafting, trekking and rock climbing. Imagine the thrill of completing a 9- kilometre trek along the Gangotri and Chaturangi glaciers, hopping over boulders and traversing ice and moraine!

Pre-decided adventure trips give you ample time to prepare yourself for the trek. It’s a good idea to prep yourself sometime in advance so you can build up your stamina and endurance levels. This is especially true for first-time trekkers who have no prior experience of high-altitude trekking. It also gives you time to get your travel kit ready and make any necessary purchases like backpacks, snow gloves etc. Reading the available literature on the place you’re about to visit is also a must for all travellers to get an idea of the weather conditions, terrain and any other special area of interest. So, get your travel kit ready, book your tour and let us take you on an adventure like no other!
