Trekking & Rafting Combos Offer a Unique Experience of Hill Country

Trekking and rafting combos are great if you want to enjoy an adventure on the water while exploring the surrounding landscape as well. The rivers that originate in the mountains flow down to the valleys over rocks and boulders and are encompassed by snowy peaks and steep ridges at all sides. For a rafter navigating the river in the valley, it would be a pity to leave the mountain trails undiscovered as they have so much to offer. The trails in this part of the country present a great deal of variety in terms of the terrain, altitude and vegetation. Each turn has a new secret waiting to be discovered. Every crevice has a story waiting to be heard.

Get a 360-degree Perspective

Combined trekking and river rafting trips give you a comprehensive view of the entire region. A trekking trip in Rishikesh covers some of the best-known peaks in the area. The Chandrashila trek involves a gradual trek to the summit at 4000m through dwarf rhododendron bushes. The peak itself offers stunning views of the adjoining mountains including Nandadevi, the highest peak in the Indian Himalayas, Kedarnath, Trishul and Banderpoonch. The same trip offers a rafting expedition on Devprayag - a beautiful confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers. It’s truly remarkable to see how the two different colours of the two rivers converge at Devprayag and then flow together as the Ganga. Looking up from your rafts while floating down the river gives a whole new perspective to the surrounding mountains.

Discover hidden stories

The Himalayas are a massive treasure trove of myths and legends. Every peak and every shrine has a local folklore about its history. One of our combo trekking and river rafting trips takes you to the ski resort of Auli, that can be reached on a trek from Tali. This nondescript hill-station is significant as the site where the legendary Adiguru Shankaracharya received enlightenment before starting his campaign for the unification of India and the revitalization of Hinduism. Another interesting thing about Auli is the temple of Na Singh and the legend associate with the idol. According to popular belief, when the arm of the idol finally breaks off, the road to Badrinath will be closed forever. Interestingly, the arm of the idol has been getting shorter every year.
